MICHAEL PACAS
ACTOR & SINGER
RESUMES
MICHAEL PACAS
Michael Pacas didn’t just leave Baton Rouge—he escaped its Bible Belt buckle with a suitcase full of sequins and a head full of show tunes.
From fibbing about his age to land early roles (15 playing 50—don’t ask about the beard glue) to commanding stages across the country, his
career has been fueled by talent, tenacity, and a healthy disregard for “playing it safe.”
Chicago audiences first took notice when the Chicago Sun-Times crowned him “the best renegade Boatman ever” in Sunday in the Park with
George, and his versatility has been on full display ever since. His favorite acting roles include Atticus Finch in To Kill a Mockingbird; Max
Bialystok in The Producers; Edna Turnblad in Hairspray; Cyrano in Cyrano de Bergerac; Charles Condomine in Blithe Spirit; and leading
roles in Plaza Suite, The Sound of Music, The Woman in Black, The Play That Goes Wrong, A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder, I
Ought to Be in Pictures, Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner, and The Guys. If there’s moral authority, comic excess, or poetic longing involved,
chances are Michael’s right at home.
As a director, his work spans classic comedy, musical theatre, and drama, including Tootsie, Brigadoon, 12 Angry Men, Who’s Afraid of
Virginia Woolf?, Medea (incorporating ASL), The Mousetrap, Always…Patsy Cline, Loot, and A Christmas Story.
A proud alumnus of the International Cabaret Conference at Yale University, Michael found his artistic sweet spot in cabaret, debuting with
Who’s Your Daddy? and Big ’N’ Easy, and most recently Hell-Bent for Leather—a raw, funny, and unapologetic excavation of faith, desire, and
survival.
He is endlessly grateful to his husband, Tim—over thirty years together and still stealing scenes.
Google him. The triumphs are documented. The rest? Buy him a dirty martini.
